US Air Force Pilot Spots Football-Sized UFO Flying Beneath Aircraft Wing

A US Air Force pilot reported observing a mysterious, football-sized object flying beneath the wing of his aircraft during a routine training mission, adding to a growing number of unexplained aerial encounters involving military personnel.
According to the pilot’s account, the incident occurred at high altitude while the aircraft was traveling at significant speed. The object, described as smooth, metallic, and roughly the size of an American football, appeared suddenly below the wing and maintained pace with the aircraft for several seconds before disappearing from view. The pilot stated that the object showed no visible means of propulsion, no exhaust plume, and no identifiable wings or control surfaces.
The encounter was reported through official military channels shortly after the flight, in line with Pentagon guidance encouraging service members to document unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP). Defense officials have not confirmed the object’s origin, and no definitive explanation has been provided.
Aviation experts note that pilots are trained observers accustomed to identifying drones, weather balloons, aircraft, and atmospheric phenomena. However, they also caution that high-speed flight, lighting conditions, and sensor limitations can sometimes create visual illusions or misinterpretations.
The report comes amid heightened public and governmental interest in UAPs. In recent years, the Department of Defense has acknowledged hundreds of unexplained aerial observations and established dedicated offices to investigate them. Officials have emphasized that most cases ultimately resolve into mundane explanations, such as airborne debris, foreign surveillance platforms, or sensor anomalies—but a small number remain unexplained due to insufficient data.
A senior defense official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the incident is under review but stressed that “unidentified” does not imply extraterrestrial. “It simply means we don’t yet have enough information to determine what was observed,” the official said.
Still, encounters like this continue to fuel debate among scientists, lawmakers, and the public. Some argue they point to advanced foreign technology or previously unknown natural phenomena, while others see them as evidence of the limits of current detection and reporting systems.
For now, the football-sized object remains unidentified. As investigations continue, military officials maintain that there is no indication the encounter posed a threat to flight safety or national security—though they acknowledge that unexplained objects operating in controlled airspace remain a concern.
